Even more safety over long travels - i.Sense EC.B with new rope hoist sensor

Especially under the most adverse conditions on crane systems or the like The intelligent breakage detection i.Sense EC.B now offers optimum protection against unplanned downtimes and high downtime costs with the new rope hoist sensor.

Even more safety ... i.Sense EC.B The new rope hoist sensor in the i.Sense EC.B system now offers even more safety over long travels.
Links in e-chains® are made for tough continuous use. Sometimes it still happens differently than you think; especially on long travels. To achieve this, we have now equipped our proven i.Sense EC.B system for intelligent breakage detection with a new rope hoist sensor. This detects a break immediately even with chain lengths over 35m and immediately triggers a message in the event of a fall. This makes it possible to react directly and avoid expensive consequential damage or complete plant failure.

The new rope hoist sensor is characterised by extreme weather resistance and robust design, which makes it particularly interesting for outdoor applications, especially on crane systems or bulk material conveyor belts. In addition, the longer measuring distance of 999m of the new sensor enables significantly more precise alignment of the system. Intelligent breakage detection with i.Sense EC.B thus offers optimum protection as long travels.

Tech up

Tech up

  • Real-time condition data acquisition for the energy supply system over the whole travel
  • Longer measuring distance of 999mm for better precision over long travels
  • Resistance to weathering effects, ideal for large crane facilities

Cost down

Cost down

  • Only one sensor is needed for long travels - a second sensor can be saved
  • Avoid unplanned downtimes
  • Prevent total failure when individual links break
Proof

Proof

  • Successfully proven in the field with the first customer applications
  • Ongoing test series in the industry's largest test laboratory  for dynamic power transmission systems
Sustainability

Sustainability

  • Condition-based maintenance avoids unnecessary or premature chain replacement

"Less effort, greater availability"

i.Sense EC.B in use "Less maintenance effort, greater availability, the capability of guiding all different cables and hoses in a single system, intelligent i.Sense EC.B condition monitoring … I would definitely choose the intelligent igus energy chains again!"

Customer applications worldwide

Overview of i.Sense examples Whether in international automotive production, the global crane industry or regional wastewater plants: i.Sense systems are successfully used and maintenance costs are saved and machine downtime prevented.

To the application overview

When do I need a smart breakage detection system like the i.Sense EC.B?

Condition monitoring instead of production downtime

When regular maintenance work requires complete production shutdown ...
Condition monitoring system for very small deviations

When motion anomalies cannot be detected by humans in time ...
Condition monitoring for continuous monitoring

If plants or machines need to be monitored frequently or continuously ...
Condition monitoring for hard-to-reach areas

If energy supply system travels are difficult to access or view ...
Condition monitoring for security areas

If maintenance work poses a health or safety risk ...
Condition monitoring for reducing costs

If maintenance costs are to be reduced and service life extended ...

i.Sense EC.B in use on a container crane

  • The EC.B (EC = e-chain, B = breakage detection) sensor is installed on the moving end of the e-chain (in the video with the smaller sensor box for short travels)
  • Special mounting brackets allow the EC.B. sensor to be installed on the moving end of the e-chain
  • A rope is stretched through the e-chain, which picks up any change in length and reports it to the new EC.B rope hoist sensor.
  • This detects chain breaks, shuts down the system and prevents further damage

Integration into your network environment

As part of the i.Sense condition monitoring system from smart plastics, all i.Sense EC.B data can also be evaluated in the i.Cee switch cabinet module. The complete alarm and escalation management of the plant can then be controlled digitally.

The i.Cee module can be integrated into predictive maintenance concepts in a number of ways, from preventive service management, which schedules regular maintenance depending on use, to location-independent fault management, which immediately reports any unforeseen change via various mobile channels. All information is collated in a modern dashboard, online or offline in the local network, depending on the customer's requirements.
