igubal® in conveyor belt for roofing tiles

An international roof tile manufacturer has so far equipped its conveyor belt with metal pedestal bearings at several locations worldwide. During the roof tile manufacturing process, the conveyor belt is subjected to extreme dirt loads, which is why it was breaking down on a weekly basis. He was looking for an alternative that would save him cost-intensive downtimes in his two-shift operation.

Beforehand - metal bearings

Dirt adhered to the lubricated metal bearings and caused them to fail shortly afterwards.

The conveyor belt regularly failed with metallic bearings. As the bearings had to be lubricated, dirt was deposited at the bearing points. This led to failures and regular downtimes. A solution was needed to make the manufacturing process more reliable and keep it running.

Self-lubricating igubal® bearings reduce the maintenance effort required.

The solution: bearings made from high-performance polymers
Since the metal bearings were replaced by self-lubricating spherical plain bearings igubal® with dry lubricants, nothing has stood in the way of non-stop operation of the system. At 70-80 revolutions per minute, the conveyor belts with the igubal® bearings have now been running flawlessly for weeks. The igubal® bearings are particularly durable and are tested for their service life in igus® the test laboratory.
