In addition to its long service life, the E6 system offers numerous other advantages. For example, it is characterised by extremely quiet, low-vibration running - making it a good match for the low-vibration drive concept of the linear motor. The so-called polygon effect, which can occur when an energy supply unwinds, is reduced to a minimum. The extremely low noise emission is confirmed in an expert report by TÜV Immissionsschutz und Energiesysteme GmbH.

Smooth running

Study by the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) at RWTH Aachen University on "Vibration tests on energy chains". Result: the energy supply "E6" from igus® SE & Co. KG, Cologne, is characterised by the lowest level of vibration and quiet running

Noise level ≤ 37 dB(A)

a measurement by TÜV Rheinland in May 2002 showed a value of ≤ 46 dB(A) at 2 m/s and a unsupported length of 1.5 m with the E6.52.100.100.0 series, and this with a sound pressure level caused by external noise of at least 10 dB(A). A measurement in the igus® laboratory resulted in a value of 37 dB(A) for series E6.29.080.075.0 at v = 1.0 m/s unsupported.

Realised in practice

In ARD's Tagesschau studio, very smooth movements of the overhead cameras are enabled by three camera robots suspended from the ceiling. The especially low-vibration E6 energy chain system is used so that energy and data are supplied as quietly and reliably as possible.
