In contrast to single-girder travelling cranes, double-girder travelling cranes or double-girder gantry cranes are designed for significantly higher lifting loads. The cranes usually bridge large hall areas and therefore often require rapid movement of the goods to be transported.
This requires robust energy chains, guide troughs and cables for high travel speeds and accelerations, which can also be easily retrofitted into existing crane systems and allow quiet movement.
e-spool uniquely combines two different energy supply systems: one standard energy chain is guided by a roller, providing the correct length and tension of the energy supply system through an integrated spring. In the home position, the energy chain is completely rolled to save space. The twisterband connects the roller with the shaft end block, serving as an interface to the supply side cables.
liftband - modular, quiet, space-saving - vertical guidance of energy, data and media. With the liftband, high vertical applications can be implemented, which have a lot of space available horizontally but only allow for low system heights.
Its modular system allows flexible adaptation to the application in question. The modular system of the e-drum enables the user to create a compact and durable guidance and drum-reeling system for energy, data, air and fluids.
Energy chain systems instead of festooning
Provide guidance for cables and energy chains while keeping them protected and safe in wind and fluctuating temperatures. This minimises downtime.
Energy chain systems instead of motor cable drums
No slip ring on long travels. Guide all media safely in one system. Travels of up to 1,000 metres.
Energy chain systems instead of busbar systems
Deliver data, energy, fluids and air safely in a single energy chain system. For narrow compact spaces and fast lane movement.
In Thyssen Krupp's Duisburg hot rolling mill, a slab transport crane from BANG Kransysteme GmbH & Co. KG is responsible for handling the slabs at the interface between the steelworks and the rolling mill - in heat and dust. The supply of energy and signals to the trolley and cab is ensured by heavy duty igus energy chains supplied pre-assembled as basic readychain systems.
Kranservice Herz mainly designs bridge and gantry cranes up to a load capacity of 100t and spans of up to 40m. For a new project - an automatic crane system for loading stainless steel pipes - special environmental conditions were met. Due to the structural conditions on site, the operator required an extremely low clearance height. The solution consisted of pre-assembled energy chains that save 50% storage space.
Containers containing liquid metal are transported in a foundry using these three cranes. Each crane has a lifting capacity of 100 tons. A hot environment paired with extremely high contamination on the crane due to moulding sand, graphite and metallic dusts is the challenge for energy supply. Through the use of our E4/4 series roller e-chains, continuous trouble-free operation could be achieved in harsh environments.
The manufacturer Piedmont Hoist and Crane in the USA opted for the convenient guidefast modular system, which is now standard in the “double-girder crane systems” segment. The guide trough for lateral attachment of the energy chain to the crane girder impresses with its simple and quick installation. And design is also an additional aspect for users.
