Our external rotary axis can be used individually and flexibly. The external robolink® D rotary axis allows circular workpiece movements. These are also often called slewing rings, rotary indexing tables or rotary tables, and allow continuous transport to various stations in a single work step. The radius of robot action is extended, making robots much more flexible in their applications. The rotary axis is driven electromechanically by a stepper motor via a gearbox with 48:1 transmission. An adapter kit is available for this axis for direct connection with Universal Robots in the UR Cap. The rotary axis can be used for applications with a precision requirement of 0.5° with a load of up to 100 [kg]. This type of accessory has a max. speed of up to 8rpm. The appropriate software is integrated into the UR Cap and can be controlled accordingly via the Universal Robot software. The axis can be optionally ordered with or without a control system. In order to control the axis in the UR Cap, the DLE-UR-0002 control unit is required. Our external axis consists largely of our tribologically optimised polymers and enables significant cost savings. They also ensure a long service life and require no maintenance.
- Flexible use of robots instead of rigid kinematics
- Robot kinematics: UR3, UR5, UR10, UR16 and the e-series
Application examplesTypical applications of our external axes include circular movements of workpieces
External axis control system for easy entry into automationThe UR unit enables a simple and intuitive system for robot control and programming, making it easy to get started with automation. The direct switch cabinet integration with UR Cap enables an easy and ready-to-connect solution. This allows the external axis to be moved in the UR CAP software within a very short time. Currently, solutions are possible with the following Universal Robots kinematics: UR3, UR5, UR10, UR16 and the e-series. A master control system is not necessary.
If you want to use your own (robot) control system, that's no problem either.
Alternatively, it is also possible to operate each axis individually with a control system. For example, with our igus® D1 dryve motor control system. With this control architecture, you need per linear axis or motor an additional master control system, which controls the coordination of the movement. The motor control systems are not a component of the part and can be ordered from us as an option. A master control system is not currently offered by igus.
