Orange, silver, gold: Up to 36 months guarantee for predictable safety

At igus, the this year’s ELECRAMA, the trade fair for electrical industry, stands under the sign of guarantee: As regards to cables, the energy supply system specialist is the first and only system supplier, who combines his cable programme for constantly moving applications continuously with a guaranteed lifetime in the energy chain. In the chainflex guarantee club, manufacturers of machines and plants can receive a guarantee via certification that goes far beyond the legal basic conditions.

igus guarantees durability and functional safety of its cables to give manufacturers of machines and plants planning security. The aim is to give binding statements about the durability of igus chainflex cables in the energy chain. For this purpose, igus originated a guarantee programme for all chainflex cables from the catalogue.

Three guarantee steps for safe chainflex cables
igus bundles its guarantee performances in the new guarantee club: Whoever registers will receive a standardized guarantee that go far beyond the legal guarantee of 12 months. The respective guarantee depends on the annual turnover with chainflex cables and is defined by duration or the number of double strokes of the machine performs. There are three different steps of certification: In the “Orange” status, the guarantee comprises 18 months or five million double strokes, the “Silver” status , 24 months or seven and a half million double strokes – and whoever buys the golden club card, obtains a guarantee of 36 months or ten million double strokes. The condition is that chainflex cables operate within the predefined operating conditions for the respective series. An igus sales representative certifies and – according to the guarantee step – trains the manufacturer’s assembling and engineering personnel gratis. igus optionally offers more performances within the scope of the guarantee club. For example, comprehensive consulting with respect of possible improvement of handling and installation of cables at the user’s premises plus reducing process costs and optimisation of complete energy chain systems.

igus test laboratory: the heart of the guarantee performances
Igus is able to make guarantee commitments because of its special test competence. About 300.000 tests were made in the igus laboratory in over 20 years. Decades of experience have demonstrated that special stresses of cables in energy chains, requires specific test procedures. For this reason igus operates the largest test laboratory in industry covering over 1.750 square meters. There, the energy supply company analyses the special conditions of permanently moved cables. Test machines absolve more than two billion strokes and 1.4 million electrical measurements per year. More than 700 cables are constantly in motion. Part of which are tests of the durability at chemical impacts, cold tests at – 40 °C and rotational movement tests. On the basis of these test series, igus is in the position to make clear statements with respect of durability and lifetime of its chainflex cables.

Lifetime calculable and quick delivery - guaranteed
Above other, igus is the only supplier who can offer a lifetime calculation for its cables. Basis is a company owned database, where all test results are registered. Via online tools, every user can calculate almost all igus products, therefore, find out the exact lifetime of the respective cable – and order it too. Also, the new chainflex catalogue, published for the SPS, contains differentiated and precise lifetime information in printed form, which is unique in industry. Besides functional safety and lifetime of cables and systems, igus also guarantees competition decisive “soft factors” like fast delivery of components and systems worldwide.
